Dominic Thorpe
UCD College of Arts and Humanities

Dominic Thorpe works mainly in performance and sometimes in video, photography, drawing and installation. His work engages subject matter that has significant social importance, often related to issues of trauma and injustice. For example: the suicide of young people, the declining numbers of small farms in Ireland, asylum systems and the official response in Ireland to revelations about the abuse of thousands of children over decades at institutions run by the catholic church on behalf of the Irish state. He often engages with people who have direct experience of the subjects he deals with.
